Traffic Management (Short Term Works)

There are no prerequisites for this course. However, please check Entry Requirements below.

Participants must be able to converse and comprehend basic English. Participants will complete language, numeracy and literacy assessment on course commencement to assess their capacity to meet language requirements.

Applicants must also have the physical capacity to meet the requirements of the unit (i.e. carry and handle the stop-slow bats and signages as required.).

It is highly recommended that you also complete RIIWHS205E Control traffic with stop-slow bat to obtain work carrying out short term low impact works on the road network, including the utilities sector, surveying industry and event workers.

The training program involves attendance and participation at an 8 hour workshop. Each workshop is facilitated by a member of our highly experienced training team, and includes trainer presentations, small group work and practical activities – so your participation will be required! Assessment will require satisfactory completion of a written test and a series of practical demonstrations.

In Australia, it is necessary to obtain an official traffic management ticket if you are going to be carrying out short term low impact works on the road network, including the utilities sector, surveying industry and event workers. To do so, you will need to complete a training course led by an approved Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

A 4 hour refresher workshop is also available, and recommended every three years.

The course is a one day course.

How long does a traffic management ticket last?

After successfully completing traffic management training, individuals must refresh their tickets every 3 years. This is a Department of Transport and Planning requirement. The traffic refresher course is a 1 day course which covers both traffic control and traffic management.

What is the purpose of a traffic management plan course?

The purpose of completing a traffic management plan  course is that it is a requirement of the Department of Transport and Planning in order to obtain a work as an traffic plan implementer. This course is designed so that all students leave will the skills and knowledge required to interpret and implement traffic management plans for short term low impact works on the road network, including the utilities sector, surveying industry and event worker industry.
