Prerequisites

There are no perquisites for these courses.

RTO Selection Criteria

We run 3 pathways/courses for earthmoving units:

Students with Minimal or No Experienced (Beginner): We require students to hold a construction induction card or equivalent.

Students with Relevant Industry Experience (Experienced): We require students to hold a construction induction card  and candidates must have a minimum of 3 months industry experience in general construction, road construction or earthmoving.

Assessment only: For any students wanting up upgrade their current competencies to national coded earthmoving tickets, we require the either:

  • A state/NOHSC operator ticket
  • A letter from an employer (on a company letter head) verifying that the operator has at least 12 months of prior experience.

Once this is obtained students are then able to complete assessments only.

Participants must be able to converse and comprehend basic English. Participants will complete language, numeracy and literacy assessment on course commencement to assess their capacity to meet language requirements. Participants will also need to have the physical capacity to undertake the practical components of the earthmoving courses.

Units of Competency

Our earthmoving tickets require satisfactory completion of any of the following 5 units of competency including:

RIIMPO320F – Conduct civil construction excavator operations
RIIMPO321F – Conduct civil construction wheeled front end loader operations

RIIMPO323E – Conduct civil construction dozer operations (at your site only)

Course Duration

The formal duration of the Beginners earthmoving courses depends on the machine:

  • Excavator: 3 Days (8am – 4pm)
  • Skid Steer: 3 Days (8am – 4pm)
  • Front End Loader: 3 Days (8am – 4pm)
  • Backhoe: 3 Days (8am – 4pm)
  • Roller: 2 Days (8am – 4pm)

These are run at our Rowville training facility in Melbourne.

The Experienced earthmoving courses are run over half days either in Rowville or on-site.

Pre learning may be required.

Course Cost

Beginners: $600 per machine

Experienced: $500 per machine
