In acknowledgement of the dangerous nature of working within a trench, this course addresses the competency required to safely install trench support in a variety of circumstances and locations within the civil construction industry.
No prerequisites are required for this course.
We run two courses for install trench supports:
Students with Minimal or No Experienced (Beginner): We require students to hold a white card (or equivalent).
Students with Relevant Industry Experience (Experienced): We require students to hold a white card (or equivalent) and have a minimum of 3 months experience in one or more of the civil construction, telecommunication and plumbing industries or council/roadwork maintenance.
Participants will also need to pass a language, literacy and numeracy assessment to assess their capacity to meet unit requirements.
– Legislative, licencing and regulatory requirements.
– Planning, preparing, installing and removing trench shoring.
– Equipment types, technical capabilities and limitations
– Site isolation and traffic control responsibilities and authorities
– Relevant record management
The training program involves attendance and participation at a one day workshop. Each workshop is facilitated by a member of our highly experienced training team, and includes trainer presentations, small group work and practical activities – so your participation will be required! Assessment will require satisfactory completion of a written test and a series of practical demonstrations.
