There are currently no openings available for this course.

The RIIRTM301E Operate Truck or Trailer Mounted Attenuators course is designed for traffic management and construction industry workers who need the specialist skills to safely operate truck-mounted attenuators (TMAs).

Truck and trailer mounted attenuators play a critical role in protecting roadworkers and motorists by absorbing the impact of collisions in live traffic environments. This nationally recognised unit equips participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills to set up, operate and maintain TMAs in accordance with workplace procedures, manufacturer instructions, and legislative requirements.

Nil. There are no prerequisites for this course.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a current and valid Medium Rigid (MR) or higher heavy vehicle licence
  • Have traffic management experience, demonstrated by one of the following:
  • Hold a current White Card (or Red Card)
  • Be capable of self-directed learning and completing pre-course study
  • Be physically able to meet the demands of operating TMAs, including lifting signs, setting up traffic devices, and climbing into and out of vehicles
