What is a VOC?
A VOC is a form of assessment designed to ensure that all staff can safely and competently operate certain equipment. Once completed, if all staff pass you will receive verification that your staff can operate the machine they need to use safely, if they don’t pass, you will be able to address these gaps in knowledge to make your workplace, and your employees safer. Even if new staff come to you with a ‘ticket’ and years of experience, having their skills and knowledge verified will ensure that those skills are double-checked. If an unfortunate accident happens, you will be able to show that all employees have been properly trained and verified, therefore you have done everything possible to prevent an incident from happening.

In simple terms, VOC works like this…
Before someone starts using a piece of earthmoving equipment you conduct an assessment to prove they have the knowledge and skills to operate the machine safely. If they pass then you have verified that they are competent. If they do not pass, you have identified gaps in the operators knowledge and/or skill and can organise training to address those gaps.
