TMI2 – Advanced Traffic Management Implementers (High Volume) Course in Melbourne builds on your existing traffic management skills and teaches you to plan and manage traffic control on busier roads (Category 2). It gives you what you need to interpret and implement traffic management plans to ensure the safety of construction and maintenance workers and the general public.

In acknowledgement of the dangerous nature of controlling traffic VicRoads requires all field personnel responsible for setting out, implementing and/or monitoring a Traffic Guidance Scheme as required by a traffic management plan to have completed the RIIWHS302E unit and to undertake a refresher course every three years.

What you need to start:

Individuals seeking work as a traffic controller are strongly encouraged to complete White Card, Traffic Control and Traffic Management. Majority of traffic control companies require you to hold these 3 tickets prior to obtaining any employment as a traffic controller.

  • 1 Day for RIISS00061 - Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads - TMI Advanced (High Volume)

  • completion of the RIISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads (TMI Essentials); and
  • at least one month experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the above-mentioned skill set in a temporary traffic management workplace; and
  • providing evidence of relevant experience setting up at least 12 temporary traffic management types including high speed roads or high-volume roads, and at least two of the following types:
    • pedestrian and cyclist controls
    • construction sites
    • lane closures
    • shoulder closures
    • night works
    • use of portable traffic control devices
    • motorways or freeways.

Students are required to complete 3 different set-ups based on Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes relevant to their working conditions and Road type pertaining to a Traffic Management Category 2 environment.

  • Final assessment at on live job site within a 25km radius of CTG after 3 different sets ups on job sites have been completed
  • Note: Practical experience on the job site and final sign off must be completed within 6 months of course.
